An unusually late leak of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry punishment letter. Several Swedish media received an email from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences a few hours before the award of the punishment, saying that this year’s punishment was three chemists based in the United States, and the punishment research was on “Quantum Dot” (Quantum Dot). The Nobel Committee for Chemistry rejected the punishment list before it was issued, claiming that it had not made a choice, but the final punishment list was in line with the “forecast”. Hans Ellegren, secretary general of the Royal Academy of Sciences, also apologized at the academy, saying “the reason for the delay is still unknown.”

“The 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry honors the discovery and development of quantum dots, nanoparticles that are so small that their size determines their personality,” the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences wrote in an email Wednesday, according to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
The Swedish Daily Aftonbladet also issued a copy of the mail, which directly pointed out that the American chemists Moungi Bawendi and Louis Brus, and Alexei Ekimov, a Russian-born scholar working in the United States.
“This is a companion of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences,” Johan Aqvist, president of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry, told Reuters. “Our meeting started at 9.30am CET (3.30pm in Hong Kong), so we have not made any choice, we have not chosen someone who will not be punished.”
Heiner Linke, a member of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, was surprised by the daily Izot. “Right now I’m just trying to figure out what happened when we met. We haven’t decided yet, so if we release the press release, it’s definitely a partner.”
The secrecy of the Nobel Prize is rare, and the awarding academies go to great lengths to keep it secret until it is officially announced. In 2010, for example, the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper predicted the punishment of Robert Edwards, a British pioneer of in vitro fertilization (IVF), hours before the Nobel Prize was awarded.
